Horse Racing in the UK
There is typically 3 types of
horse racing in the UK and
the sport is a major contributor to the UK economy. Horse
racing can be over jumps - hurdles or fences known as
National Hunt racing. The unobstructed distance races, are known as flat races.
Also there is another type of horse racing that is run on a more informal basis, this is known as point to point racing. This is a form of steeple chasing for amateur racers. Just like professional racing, it is run under the auspices of a regulator for horseracing. The Jockey Club works in conjunction with the British Horseracing Board the governing authority.
