Sunbury-on-Thames is London’s closest racecourse. It is located near Richmond and stages both Jump and Flat racing throughout the year. The feature race meeting is the Christmas Festival on 26th and 27th of December. During the summer, Wednesday themed evening racing is popular. This is a high quality track with the feature event over the sticks being the 2 day Christmas meeting that features the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day.

The perfectly level right handed dual National Hunt an Flat track that is sharp by nature. The flat course re-opened in March 2006 and is unique amongst All Weather tracks in the UK as it is a right handed track. All the others follow the American configuration and are left handed.

They now race on a Polytrack surface, consisting of two ovals, the longer one is 10 furlongs in length, with a run in of about 3 furlongs. The shorter one is approximately 1 mile round with a run in of only 2 furlongs. The national hunt course has a 1.75 mile circumference and the fences are quite stiff.
